SOUTH RIM
The South Rim is a great place for everyone. There are plenty of hotels, restaurants, things to see, and things to do. Along with the hustle and bustle is the Grand Canyon right at your feet. There are great viewpoints to watch the sunset or sunrise. There are great places for painting or photography. There are great places just to sit and watch the amazing views. It is a gateway to the bottom of the Grand Canyon via the Bright Angel and South Kaibab Trail. Most of the visitors who come to Grand Canyon come to the South Rim. It is open 365 days a year and is spectacular every month of the year.
For any overnight camping in Grand Canyon National Park you must obtain a Backcountry Camping Permit.
RIM TRAIL ----Follows the rim for 12 miles. It is mostly paved and suitable for wheelchairs. You can start and end wherever you would like.
